Illusion Series

The 39 plates making up the “Illusions” series initiated in 1987 and completed in 1997. They represent the first experiments with many of the possibilities that could be applied in creating photographic art. All tell a story, simply as a classical representation, or in a historical context, or by visualizing a myth, otherwise by adding a surprising, sometimes a humorous twist to a scene, which are constructed and staged by logistical planning and using various camera, optical and lighting techniques. The resulting collection was accepted by the renown Victoria & Albert Museum, the first museum to recognize photography as art.
